Precious Beginnings

The way a dog learns to experience the world begins long before behaviors become a concern.

In these early days, we have a quiet and foundational opportunity to shape how puppies feel about themselves, people, environments, and life itself.

Early experiences and learning will shape your puppy's self-esteem and self-awareness, and we want to give your puppy every opportunity to grow into a healthy and confident dog. Understanding factors like genetic influences, how puppies physically and mentally develop, the importance of appropriate social development, and individuality is crucial.

Able Adolescents

When everything you thought was working suddenly isn’t.

During this stage, disconnect, inconsistency, and the sense that something is missing is often not a training failure, but a sign you and your dog need a different kind of support!

Canine adolescence is very much like the adolescence we see in our maturing children. Bodies are changing (hormones and sexual maturity are intense) and minds/intelligence are growing (figuring out how they fit into their world and seemingly "testing" boundaries), leaving guardians feeling like they are on an absolutely wild amusement park ride. If it is any comfort, all of this is normal!

For the puppy you have nurtured into and through adolescence or the new, mature dog you have welcomed into your home. 

Like us, your dog will change throughout their lives. Things they once were at ease with may now seem to bother them or things that once seemed to bother them, they can now navigate with ease. And, often, the changes in ourselves or in our lives will set off changes in our dogs. New behaviors, shifting tolerances, selectiveness (with dogs or humans), changing physical  or mental health, trauma, or just a sense that you and your dog need some support, AmaZEN Canines understands.

The Golden Circle

As our dogs enter their senior years, proactive care becomes one of the greatest gifts we can offer them. Establishing a variety of baseline benchmarks early in this stage allows us to better recognize changes over time and address concerns before they significantly impact quality of life. A strong partnership with your veterinarian is an essential part of this journey, as aging dogs may become more susceptible to conditions such as cognitive dysfunction, osteoarthritis, cancer, diabetes, Cushing's disease, and hypertension.

Aging often brings changes that are easy to overlook, including shifts in sleep patterns, mobility, vision, hearing, cognition, and overall comfort.
